Summary:
Yorktown System Group is seeking a qualified Arabian Peninsula/Yemen/Syria Analyst.
The Arabian Peninsula/Yemen/Syria Researcher will be the principal resource on the Arabian Peninsula, Yemen, Syria and surrounding region and foreign military studies and security-related issues at the Foreign Military Studies Office (FMSO).
The region includes the Arabian Peninsula, Yemen, Syria and other countries within the neighboring region.
The contractor shall provide military and program analysis in the form of articles of an academic quality sufficient to be published in peer-reviewed journals, other research reports, and the writing and publication of analysis of Arabian Peninsula, Yemen, Syria and regional security issues from open sources and foreign language media, including Arabic media.
The contractor will be a principle Arabian Peninsula, Yemen and Syria SME for FMSO.
The contractor will respond to the technical direction of the TRADOC DCSINT G2 via FMSO.
Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:
Will be the principal resource on Arabian Peninsula/Yemen/Syria issues at the Foreign Military Studies Office (FMSO), on unclassified, open foreign source research and intelligence center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
This region includes but is not limited to Central Asia and neighboring countries, with expertise in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and their neighbors being the principle focus.
Will focus on multiple subjects concerning the Central Asian region, to include culture, military capabilities, current political and social processes and discords, and economic issues, and will coordinate with the FMSO Director on formulating an annual research plan that will produce five articles on five different topics, or other directed research projects.
Will respond to the unclassified research requests that FMSO receives that deal with military and security issues in the region, even when they do not deal with the incumbent's specific research program.
Will be asked to represent FMSO on occasion, whether it is to interact with visitors to FMSO or as part of CONUS or OCONUS meetings dealing with military and security issues.
Shall travel to the region at least once per year to maintain expertise and conduct specialized research.
Shall support FMSO and TRADOC G-2 programs related to Central Asia and neighboring region.
These include but are not limited to participation as a subject matter subject expert for professional military education, training, exercises, and capabilities development events.
Will have the equivalent of DLPT 2+/2
foreign language capability in a Central Asian or the Russian language.
Shall assist in editing other FMSO work.
Shall assist in editing the FMSO Operational Environment Watch monthly e-Journal as necessary.
Required
Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher in applicable field.
10 years of experience in Arabian Peninsula/Yemen/Syria, the surrounding region, and foreign military studies and security-related analysis The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge and published research on multiple subjects in Central Asia and neighboring region, with broad-based knowledge about the history, culture, security, and politics of most countries in the broad region.
Experience conducting travel and work in the region, with contacts in the unclassified military and security affairs field.
Ability to read and write clearly in English, at a publishable level, with analytical ability recognizable by an active publication record.
Must be eligible for a SECRET Clearance.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
